The journey
This journey stays in Cairo and gives each part of the city its own day. Your private guide leads you over the Giza Plateau, past the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure to the Great Sphinx, and later into the Grand Egyptian Museum with its large display of Tutankhamun's belongings.
A museum day follows, at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and the Royal Mummies Hall of the NMEC. On your last full day you see the Citadel and its alabaster mosque, the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue in Old Cairo, and the Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Every touring day includes lunch, and all sightseeing and transfers are private.
The route
Day by day
Welcome to Egypt. At Cairo International Airport, our representative is waiting to greet you, and a private car carries you on to your luxury hotel. Once you have checked in, nothing else is planned. Use the rest of the day to rest after your flight, unpack and get ready for the touring ahead in Cairo.
After breakfast, you set out with your private guide for the Giza Plateau. You begin at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, then see the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and come face to face with the Great Sphinx. Lunch is served at a high-end local restaurant. Afterward your guide leads you into the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). There, a vast display brings Tutankhamun's belongings together for the first time.
Your day starts at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir. Its thousands of antiquities cover thousands of years of the country's history, and your guide leads you through the galleries at a comfortable pace. After lunch, you visit the NMEC, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, to see its Royal Mummies Hall. You then return to your hotel for the evening.
After breakfast, you drive to the Salah El-Din Citadel and see the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, whose architecture your guide explains. Next is Old Cairo, with its Coptic and Islamic landmarks, among them the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. After lunch, you have time in the busy lanes of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, a Cairo souk for souvenirs and handicrafts.
Breakfast is at your hotel, and the hours that follow are yours to spend at leisure. Later, you are driven in a private car to Cairo International Airport for the flight home. That closes your five days in Cairo, which took you from the pyramids of Giza to the old lanes of the bazaar.
