Cruise ship or dahabiya?
A cruise ship has more facilities and a fixed schedule; a dahabiya is smaller, quieter and moves under sail, and stops where large ships cannot. We compare both for your dates before you choose.
How long is a Nile cruise?
The cruises here spend four nights on board between Luxor and Aswan. The dahabiyas sail between Esna and Aswan in five nights.
Which ships and dahabiyas do you propose?
Five-star ships such as The Oberoi Philae and The Oberoi Zahra, and dahabiyas such as the Nour El Nil boats. Each journey page names the vessel and the alternatives.
Are the shore visits private?
Yes. These journeys include private guided sightseeing, with your own guide at every visit. The ship itself is shared with other guests, unless your group charters a whole dahabiya.
Can a Nile cruise be added to a stay in Cairo?
Yes. Most of our journeys combine Cairo with a Nile cruise or a dahabiya. Domestic flights between Cairo and Luxor or Aswan are booked and paid separately.
When is the best time for a Nile cruise?
October to April, when the days are cooler. Summer sailings run too, with touring early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
