About us
Who is Luxury Egypt Trip?
Luxury Egypt Trip plans private luxury and ultra-luxury journeys through Egypt. Bookings are made with Egypt Today Travel, a Cairo travel agency licensed by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (Category A, no. 1947), on the register since September 2009. Who we are.
Do you run group tours?
No. Every journey is private on land: your own licensed guide, vehicle and driver. We do not sell budget or group tours. Read more: Private or small-group tours.
How does booking work?
You send a request with your dates and who is traveling. We reply with a written proposal: the route, the hotels and room types, the price and the terms. Nothing is booked until you accept it and we confirm in writing, and no payment is taken with a request. Read more: How a tailor-made trip is planned.
Luxury and ultra-luxury
What makes an Egypt trip luxury?
Luxury hotels named in writing, a licensed guide who works only for your group, your own vehicle and driver, and a five-star Nile cruise or a dahabiya. The pace is set around you, not a group. Read more: Luxury or ultra-luxury: the difference.
What does ultra-luxury add?
Heritage hotels as your main stays, such as Marriott Mena House at the pyramids, Al Moudira in Luxor and the Old Cataract in Aswan, with suites chosen with you; a Nour El Nil dahabiya or a whole dahabiya chartered for your group; and more time in each place. See the ultra-luxury journeys.
Which luxury hotels do you use in Cairo?
Hotels such as The St. Regis Cairo and the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza by the river, and Marriott Mena House beside the pyramids of Giza. Your proposal names the hotel and the room type. Read more: Luxury hotels in Cairo and Giza.
Is the Winter Palace in Luxor open?
No. The Winter Palace is closed for restoration until 2027, so our journeys propose Al Moudira on Luxor's West Bank instead. Read more: Luxury hotels in Luxor and Aswan.
How much does a luxury Egypt trip cost?
It depends on your dates, hotels, room type and group size, so every journey is quoted privately. The written proposal shows the full price, what is included and the terms.
Planning
When is the best time to visit Egypt?
October to April is the most comfortable season, and the busiest. Summer days in Luxor and Aswan are very hot, so touring starts early. For winter dates, book the Nile vessel first. Read more: The best time to visit Egypt, month by month.
How many days do you need in Egypt?
Five days are enough for Cairo alone. Seven or eight days cover Cairo and a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan; ten or eleven add Abu Simbel, a dahabiya or the Red Sea. Read more: How many days you need in Egypt.
Is Egypt safe to visit?
Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile between them and the Red Sea resorts receive large numbers of visitors every year. Governments publish travel advice that treats regions differently and changes over time; for US travelers, read the State Department's Egypt page before you book. Every journey here stays in these regions, with a private guide and driver on land. Read more: Is Egypt safe? What official advice says.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Most visitors, including US, UK, Canadian and Australian citizens, can apply for an e-visa online before they travel or buy a visa on arrival. Rules and fees change, so check the official portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg, for your passport. Read more: The luxury Egypt trip checklist.
What should I wear in Egypt?
Light, loose clothes that cover shoulders and knees suit temples and mosques; women cover their hair in mosques, and a scarf is enough. Add a warm layer for winter evenings, comfortable shoes, a hat, and a smart outfit for dinners on board or at a heritage hotel. Read more: What to wear in Egypt.
Are tips included?
No. Tips are customary in Egypt, for guides, drivers and hotel and ship staff, and they are not included in our journeys. Every journey page lists them under Not included. Read more: Tipping on a private trip.
Are domestic flights included?
No. Domestic flights, such as Cairo to Aswan or Luxor to Cairo, are booked and paid separately. Read the booking terms.
Can you plan a honeymoon or a family trip?
Yes. Couples often pair a dahabiya or a small luxury ship with a heritage hotel night and a few days on the Red Sea; families usually prefer shorter touring days and hotels with a pool. Tell us who is traveling and we shape the proposal. Read more: An Egypt honeymoon in luxury.
On the Nile
Is a dahabiya better than a Nile cruise ship?
Neither is better for everyone. A dahabiya carries a handful of guests under sail and stops where large ships cannot; a cruise ship has more facilities, a pool and a fixed schedule. Choose by pace. Read more: Dahabiya or Nile cruise ship?.
Can I charter a private dahabiya?
Yes, where a vessel is free for your dates. A private charter gives your group the whole boat and its crew between Esna and Aswan. Read more: Chartering a private dahabiya.
How long is a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan?
On the journeys here, three or four nights on a cruise ship, and four or five nights on a dahabiya, depending on the journey and its direction.
